WORKS and TAP & PAT

WORKS and TAP & PAT consists of a new series of textile works and drawings ( 2021-2023 ), that have been exhibited at HAM-Helsinki Art Museum as part of an exhibition: Dance! - Movement in the Visual Arts 1880-2020., Oulu Art museum, Ars Libera gallery ( FI ), Institute finlandais in Paris and BAG Bakery Art Gallery in Bordeaux ( FR ) during 2022-2023. During these displays, there has been performative sketches situated in the museum spaces as a way to create a short format, fluid performance that can be situated in different locations and contexts.

During Spring 2023 the textile works and works on paper are exhibited in France, at Institute finlandaise in Paris and BAG art gallery in Bordeaux. The performance TAP & PAT is shown as part of festival Recontres Choréographiques Internationales de seine saint-dennis 2nd of June 2023.

The project began as a mundane meditation- on everyday things, of everydayness, of life’s cycles and redundancies, of work and manual connection to the surrounding world.

Initial drawing series portrayed human figures in different transformations , conflicts and inner polyphonies, where being of the figures became that of dislocations, disproportions and peripheries.

The textile pieces are loom woven cloths referencing the domestic and the familiar, simultaneously erupting from their form- creating layers that camouflage and dribble on to one another. Attempting to evoke a sense of the un-controlled and messy in regards to the usable and decorative. Figures from drawings are then scribbled onto them, partly camouflaging within the mesh of the yarns and partly exhibiting themselves as part of the story of the fabric.

Starting from a series of drawings created in 2021, the creation tackles into the writing of drawing as a way to script the inner worldings of the performative figures and their relations. The choreographic threads of the three performers weave together different jumbles as a way to approach ideas of work, understanding, difference and language.
